A Maruti car finally has 5 star safety rating

Finally, it has happened! A Maruti Suzuki car scored a five-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests. The model to achieve this feat is the upcoming Dzire. Although Maruti Suzuki cars always complied with the applicable safety norms in India, they fared poorly in safety assessment tests conducted by Global NCAP.
The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which will be launched in India on November 11, garnered five stars in the adult occupant protection category and four stars in the child occupant protection category at Global NCAP.
In terms of points, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire got 31.24 out of 34 in adult safety and 39.20 out of 49 in child safety. Maruti Suzuki submitted the Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2024 to Global NCAP for voluntary testing.
Maruti Suzuki has enhanced its focus on car safety in 2024. The new Dzire comes with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and pedestrian protection as standard. Even the new Swift, which entered the market in May, has these safety features as standard.
Besides, the 2024 Dzire offers hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, a three-point seatbelt for all seats, rear defogger, and Isofix mounts as standard. The car’s structure is made of 45% high tensile steel. It is based on the latest Heartect platform (fifth generation).
Global NCAP rated the Dzire 2024’s structure and footwell area as stable. “The chest of the driver dummy in the frontal test showed marginal protection. The pole test showed full head protection and the side impact test showed full protection for the adult occupants,” Global NCAP said.
The crash test protocols of Global NCAP assess frontal impact protection, side impact protection and side pole impact protection for all cars.
At the heart of the 2024 Dzire is the new Z12E 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (81.58PS of maximum power and 111.7Nm of peak torque), which is also employed by the 2024 Swift. The transmission options include 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT.
The new Dzire boasts features like LED Crystal Vision headlamps with LED DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, boot lid spoiler, 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys surround sense, 360-degree camera, automatic AC, cruise control, electric sunroof, rear AC vents, rear armrest and Suzuki Connect.
We expect the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire price to be between Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will rival the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
